THINGS I HAVE LIKED ESPECIALLY

(no particular order to this list)

Silhouettes of Dennis and Keith done when they were in first grade.

Copper water jug and plate, both antiques, given to us as wedding presents by IVirs. H.P. Walker and her son, who bought them in Turkey while serving in the Navy.

Watercolor of my mothers back yard done by Dennis in 1975.

Small white Stoke embossed pitcher which belonged to my mother.

Blue and white DeIft pitcher given to Mother in the 1 960s. (guest room)

Etched glass water carafe and tumbler that belonged to my mother as a young girl.

Stainless tea and coffee set I bought in Copenhagen in 1972. This is of high quality in design and manufacture. Later bought a second matching tray. In 1995, New York City stores were selling the tray alone for $85-95 and the coffee pot for $218-248.

Carving of one of the three kings purchased by my Uncle Lawrence Kayser in Mexico.

Carvings of old lady with a basket and a little boy with a fish both from Norway.

Ceramic figure of a 'piskie' from Cornwall, England. I named him Larkin.

Magazine basket belonged to my grandmother, as did knitting basket and three kitchen baskets.

White onyx bookends that I bought in Miami in the late 50s. Keith would like to have them.

Heavy gray bookends I bought in 2005. They are from a design by Frank Lloyd Wright for his Storer House.

The walnut bedroom furniture with twin headboards from my parents is of excellent quality. Most new sets are not made with wood drawers like this. My oak set bought in 1990 is certainly not comparable and not worth keeping.

Initialed teapot, sugar and creamer that belonged to Dan's mother. We had the sugar and creamer resilvered. "American Silver Manufacturers" by Dorothy Rainwater identified the markings: L and WS applied to Ledig Mfg. Co. Philadelphia, PA. Listed in JC-K 1896 in plated silver sections. Out of business before 1904. Solid plate and composition. EPBM means electroplated on Brittania Metal, which is a silver white alloy of tin, antimony and copper.

Pair of clear lead glass bud vases that I bought in Austria in 1983. I like the plain lines.

Silver thimble was given to me in an outfitted sewing basket when I was in junior high school. It's in with my sewing things and has my initials.

Sterling silver brushes and comb set I gave Dan as a wedding gift (in my sewing chest).

Paper sculpture pictures of two boys, which reminded me of your childhood. Treehouse painting, which reminded me of the one you built.

Crystal goblets. Ten belonged to my grandmother, and I got them about 1963. Bought six more at an antique sale. I usually used them for wine, but they would have held water at my grandparents home, since my grandmother was opposed to alcohol.

Picnic basket belonged to my mother. Damaged in my move to Sun Mill Court.

Brass candleholder with amber glass globe that Cleo gave me about 1972—from Norway.

Jewelry box made by Dennis and napkin holder made by Keith, both in junior high school classes.

Rolling pin belonged to my mother. Also aluminum cake cover and copper-color canisters. My piano tuner, Charlie Brittin, would like the canisters as he collects aluminum.

Toaster that my dad bought me for my first apartment in Colorado Springs in 1953. Mixer was a wedding gift in 1956.

Hand-carved kalli (spelling may be wrong) that I bought from Australian aborigines in 1984. It is similar to a boomerang and is a weapon to throw at small animals.

Cedar chest was purchased by my parents in the 1 920s to store a baby layette. I later used it as a hope chest and then it was a toy chest for quite a few years. I stripped it in the 1970s. I like the plain style. Keith has said he would like to have it someday.

Glass flower basket vase that my dad gave my mother for her 12th birthday. There is also a glass bowl that belonged to the Kaysers.

Among Christmas things: figures of three kings from my mother; green wood Christmas tree plate I got while society editor in Colorado Springs; large Christmas plate Ron and Susan gave me; ornament of Santa with list of good boys, bought for Dennis' first Christmas and broken when Christmas tree blew over that year; figure of choir boy bought for Keith's first Christmas.

Jewelry -- my wedding and 25th anniversary rings are in bank box. My ring with one diamond belonged to my Grandmother Samson and the stone is from my aunt Anna Samson Templeton's wedding ring. I also have a strand of real pearls that Dan gave me and a pearl ring I received from my parents in high school. A garnet ring I bought, jade necklace from Cleo and jade ring from Mother. A gold pin of Cleo's given to me by Wilber in 1994. Dan's wedding ring, his father's initial ring that Dan used to wear, and a ring with a blue stone are in the bank box.

Living room tables and dining room set are from the Planner Group by Paul McCobb, a popular designer of the 1960s. Sofa and yellow chair are from the Viko series and bought in 1968. Wicker furniture is high quality and was bought about 1989.

My all-time favorite book is SARUM by Rutherfiard and "A Town Like Alice" is my favorite movie/mini series/video.
